Flu shot offered at the Founders Gallery
Sep 15 2009UF's Student Health Care Center offers seasonal flu shots for students and staff as part of the 2009 Influenza Campaign. Outreach clinics will take place throughout the campus, including at the Founders Gallery from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 16 and 22, Oct. 6 and 19 and Nov. 6. The cost is $5 for students and $25 for UF employees.
UF students and staff who fall into the high-risk category are encouraged to get flu shots. High-risk individuals include the following:
- Persons with a chronic illness such as asthma, diabetes or hypertension.
- Persons who are 50 or older.
- Health-care workers and health-care students with direct patient contact (health-care workers should read the common misconceptions sheet created by the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases).
- Pregnant women
- Household contacts or caregivers of children less than 6 months old.
- Household contacts or persons caring for a family member with cancer or any disease that causes. immunosuppression.
Credit card, cash and checks will be accepted at the main SHCC and SHCC at Shands. Students may also defer the $5 charge to their UF account at the main SHCC and SHCC at Shands clinics. Outreach clinics take cash or check only. For more information visit http://shcc.ufl.edu/.
